Saturday 1 March again
Some of my followers maybe wondering about my title for the blog - Mundus Casius Pars Duo. Well I thought since I liked Latin so much, I'd do a title in Latin. That way it wouldn't be picked up by web trolls who weren't educated by the Christian Brothers. It means World Adventure Part Two.
So, Lady P is looking for a title and theme for her Find Penguins. She asked me in the middle of the hot spa for some suggestions in Latin. Well, I thought of Brother Shields in our Latin classes and thought she might be better doing it in French.
After waking at 9.30 am and relaxing until 1.00 pm, we eventually made it to the town centre and all the smart Nigels and Pamy's were doing coffee. A pleasant walk about and we ended up at PJ's Pie Emporium. Well, a pop up pie shop where the cheapest pie is $8.50. Given Lady P's initials are PJ, we of course had to have a pie. One salmon and the other beef and mushroom. Very good too.
In the afternoon we went to the hot pools across the road. They are a very commercial adaptation of the original 1900's white man development and are now run by the Council. Signs in English. Not many Maoris about. Perhaps not so sacred?
Flashy was a bit trepidatious as he does not like water too hot and Lady P likes it hot enough to cook chooks. After sampling the 34c pool, which is what CP needs to get Sorrento to, we head for the 38c pool. Still OK by Flashy so off to the 40c-42c pool. Nice for a while. Overall, a couple of hours boiling ourselves in smelly pools. Very NZ, I'd say. I reckon it helped my dodgy ankle too. But a good product and a bit of fun.
Home to our nice motel for gin and tonics on the deck and a fresh salad, with hard/soft boiled eggs made in the coffee plunger. 15 minutes sort of gets them done. A work in progress for the next two day!
Not quite hard enough so back they go!
