They say Denver has 300 days of sunshine a year. True to reputation, today is a nice sunny day with temps around 17C. So, it’s off to Denver Central Market, back in towards the CBD, for a good coffee, a famous Queen cake (a bit like a cronut) and a wander around in a bohemian area with lots of street art and murals.

The markets are more a collection of food outlets than a farmer’s market but well done and more European in feel than American. Then, on to Stanley Market. More of the same but with a couple of bars.

We shopped for a cactus and thank you card, then on to the bar. Quite a big one, serving a full menu of food as well. On entry, you get a card. This card you use to self serve beer from 50 taps of different craft beers. You can have as little or as much, of any or all beers, except after 40oz (about two pints), you have to go and speak to a human and get the card topped up.

It was a lot of fun and the beers were all OK. A couple of average empanadas from a shop on the way out and we head home. Time for a gin and tonic in the back yard sunshine, with the cats and a salad Niçoise for dinner.

A wall full of craft beers.
Mercury the cat decided to join the table.
Plenty of choice in empanadas but average quality.
