Wednesday to Sunday 2 -6 July 2005

After crashing early on Tuesday night, we headed into St. Savinien for Lady P’s doctor’s appointment on Wednesday and then into St Jean D’Angeley to our familiar Intermarche for some supplies. An afternoon nap for some and a 6km walk for others and a home cooked roast chicken and vegetables for dinner.

The weekend

Just chilling. Poisoning some weeds. Vacuuming the pool and  its in the 30'sc. We went into the market on Saturday and enjoyed the exciting summer festival activities as if we were never away. Same familiar faces and some recognition from the coffee lady and the bread guy.  There were the Roman soldiers again; a shuffling drum band and some old jazz guys inside the market hall. Fruit, vege, bread and cheese purchased and we're good for the week ahead.

We determined that in recognition of the generous use of LPR (5 months if you count last year), which we consider our French rural retreat, we would buy EL and Johnny a BBQ. She has requested Flashy teach Johnny how to BBQ. “Australians know how to BBQ, don’t they?”

So, after much research, off we go to Bricomarche for a Weber Spirit 1, 2 burner gas. It's total fire ban material around here, so no wood BBQ. 595 Euro later and the nice boy helps us to stuff it in the back of our little car. Now the challenge is to put it together! It comes in a big box made of exceptionally strong cardboard. It would make a good homeless shelter.

Well, come Sunday and it’s drizzling and cooler, so the BBQ project starts. I can report that there were no left over parts – always a good sign. Only one small part put in backwards and quickly fixed and no arguments. Time for a cup of tea.

Our neighbour still has his little tractor
A familiar sight in the back paddock.
Back to food that tastes like food.
Our lawn has gone brown due to the heat wave.
Sun setting at 9.45 pm
Satay and gado gado.
The Weber packaging. Make a fantastic cubby.
Yes, I know it's upside down!
Viola. C'est fini.
