Saturday - wide awake at 4.30 am. Flying east needs careful management. We were almost first at breakfast at 7.30 am. A restrained effort, with Maldivian vegetables and noodles with chilli and a small Maldivian omelet. We did however have a mimosa because it was there in a nice silver bowl on ice.

Sunday morning was spent swimming in the sea off our deck and lying about in the sun. Monday was eat, drink, nap, swim - repeat. Tuesday is looking to be the same, except it's blowing 40 knots. There's always the bar.

Now for a little observation. Since leaving Istanbul, we have been adjusting to the dreaded flying east jetlag, a bit. Wanting to sleep in the middle of the day – more than one usually does and the internal combustion being a little sluggish. Flashy has had curry and chilli for breakfast most days and a curry for lunch too. Fairly mild really. Lots of black coffee and the occasional piece of fruit. We awoke on Tuesday morning after a decent sleep and with all systems back to normal. A good thing really, as it is our 36th wedding anniversary and we have the Vista Restaurant booked for dinner tonight. Hasn’t stopped a curry breakfast though. We shall see what the rest of the day brings.

The resort delivered a bottle of sparkling to our villa at 5.00 pm, which was a nice touch and a surprise. Cocktails at the bar afterwards, then off to Vista for dinner.

Vista was surprisingly good. We kept it to simple pasta, arancini and seafood skewers and a NZ Sauvignon Blanc and a Rhone Shiraz.

Wednesday was a long travel day to Singapore and then on to Melbourne. You might say a typical travel day with delayed flights and tight transit times. Nonetheless, even with average service on Singapore Airlines, we managed a cat nap before Tas collected us at Melbourne and then the drive to Sorrento by 12.00 noon.
